We’re sharing the stories of some of the young people who’ve been inspired by Elderflower Fields and are now inspiring the next generation of event industry professionals and performers. Drop us an email if you’d like to tell your story hello@elderflowerfields.co.uk
Who was inspired? Rylee Somers
What and when inspired you?
I first performed at Elderflower Fields aged 12 as part of Rhapsody Artist Development (RAD) and was hooked.
There is nothing like that feeling of walking onto the Dragonfly Stage and I hope to continue to be part of the Elderflower Fields family for years to come.
My inspirations include Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin, Rich Somers, Joss Stone and Jennifer Hudson.
What did you do as a result?
Performing inspired me to pursue a career in music, and I now work as an assistant vocal coach at Rhapsody Artist Development. This role has given me the opportunity to guide younger singers in our classes in Sussex as well as singing with our Senior group on stage at many fantastic events. Something I am really proud of.
This year, I was thrilled to play a full set on the Dragonfly Stage at Elderflower Fields alongside a superb band with another RAD student singing backing vocals for me.
Elderflower Fields always instils confidence in young performers, and thanks to them, I am following my dreams to perform and have now completed two years studying music at Northbrook College in Worthing.
What are you up to now?
I’m excited to head to Bath University to continue my musical education in September. I will definitely work something out so I can return to my favourite festival in Sussex in May!
Have you inspired anyone?
Annie-May – “I am 13 years old and have loved singing and dancing since I was a toddler when I was influenced by from Disney musicals. My tastes have changed and now I’m into more alternative groups like Cavetown and Yaelokre. Rylee and Rhapsody Artist development has inspired me to play some solo gigs with my ukulele at festivals & charity events
I’m now taking GCSE music and am excited to learn and develop more as a musician, singer and songwriter
Having performed on the main stage at Elderflower Fields a number of times with RAD I was excited to get a slot on the new Skylark acoustic stage this year. I can honestly say that Elderflower Fields has been a key part in my gaining confidence for performing and in life in general”
